Microphone audio is lost when I capture HDMI video from a camera

Many cameras' HDMI signals do not embed audio input from the microphone. Please consult your camera manufacturer to confirm whether the HDMI signal of your camera model contains audio data.

Will the recorded file be damaged if the input signal is lost during recording?

Signal loss will not damage the recording file. However, during the period of losing input signal, the captured images will be all black.

How to reset the EDID of HDMI capture device

Pro Capture, Eco Capture Family Call the driver panel of capture card. In the HDMI tab page of the driver panel, click Reset under EDID. USB Capture (Plus) Family Open the utility software USB Capture Utility V3. In the HDMI tab page of USB Capture Utility V3, click Default under Capture device EDID. Screen shows "No Signal" or "Unsupported Signal" when I use Magewell capture device

1Check if the resolution of the signal source exceed the processing range of the capture device Please refer to the tech spec of the capture device on the Magewell official website. The highest supportable resolution can be found in the Input Features section. 2Check if the signal source works normally Connect the signal source to other receiving devices (such as TV). If the other receiving devices cannot display videos normally, the problem should come from the source. Or connect your capture device with other signal source. If the capture device works normally, the problem should come from the original source. 3Check the status of cables and interfaces Use the recommended brands of cables or use the Mini Repeater HDMI 4K to enhance the signal. Mind the length of cables. If the cable is too long, the quality of signal transmission will be damaged. For USB Capture (Plus) devices, make sure they are used with the original USB 3.0 cables provided by Magewell. Check if all interfaces are firmly connected. If there are any worn interfaces, use alcohol pads to wipe the interfaces. If there is a adapter between the signal source and the capture device, replace the adapter. If there is a signal splitter, connect the source directly to the capture device. 4Steps for HDMI devices Make sure the signal source is not encrypted by HDCP because HDCP signals are not allowed to be captured according to the law. Use the driver panel of capture card to set color format

Call the driver panel of capture card. In the Video tab page, click the Capture tab, select the Color Format check box, and then select a color format.

Captured video has color distortion problem

1Check the color format of the signal source Check the color format of the video output from your signal source according to the user manual of the signal source. 2Set the supported color formats of the capture device For USB Capture (Plus) Family, download the utility software USB Capture Utility V3, and then refer to this article to add the color format of the signal source to your capture device. For Pro Capture and Eco Capture Family, refer to this article to add the color format of the signal source to your capture device. 3Select the appropriate color format in the video capture software In your video capture software, select the newly added color space and save the settings. Then check whether the color of the video is displayed normally.

Use the driver panel of capture card to set AR conversion mode

How to use the driver panel to set AR conversion mode Call the driver panel of capture card. In the Video tab page, select an option for the AR conversion property. Differences between the three AR conversion modes Ignore: ignores the original aspect ratio and stretches the image to full-screen. Cropping: keeps the original aspect ratio, stretches the image to full-screen, and then crops the portion out of the capture dimension. Padding: keeps the original aspect ratio, stretches the image until it reaches the horizontal or vertical boundary, and then add black borders on the remaining fields. Do Magewell products support HANC/VANC data extraction?

Both the Pro Capture and Eco Capture Family's SDI capture cards support HANC/VANC data extraction. Note that you must use the Magewell SDK to do this.

Captured video is blurrier than the original video

USB Capture (Plus) Family Open the utility software USB Capture Utility V3. In the Info tab page, view the Video signal format, which consists of the resolution and frame rate of the input signal. In the Video tab page, view the Color format and Quantization in the INPUT section. In the Video tab page, set the Color format and Quantization in the CAPTURE section to the value of the same properties in the INPUT section. In your video capture software, set the Resolution, Color format (if available) and Quantization (if available) of the captured signal to the value of the same properties of the input signal. Pro Capture, Eco Capture Family Call the driver panel of capture card. In the Video tab page, view the Input signal format, Color format, and Quantization in the Input section. The input signal format is displayed next to the Input label, and includes the resolution and frame rate of the input signal. In the Video tab page, set the Color format and Quantization in the Capture section to the value of the same properties in the Input section. In your video capture software, set the Resolution, Color format (if available) and Quantization (if available) of the captured signal to the value of the same properties of the input signal. 2If the captured image is scaled in the video capture software? If video capture software allows users to set the scaling, make sure the scale factor is 100%. 3If the input signal is interlaced signal? USB Capture (Plus) Family Open the utility software USB Capture Utility V3. In the Info tab page, view the Video signal format. If the video signal format contains "p", the input signal is a progressive scan signal; if it contains "i", the input signal is a interlaced scan signal. For interlaced scan signal, open the Video tab page, and then set Deinterlace to Weave, i.e. no deinterlacing. Pro Capture, Eco Capture Family Call the driver panel of capture card. In the Video tab page, view the input signal format next to the Input label. If the video signal format contains "p", the input signal is a progressive scan signal; if it contains "i", the input signal is a interlaced scan signal.
