Use Pro Capture card to capture compressed audio

Scenario Pro Capture cards doesn't offer the access to capturing compressed audio by default. But users can realize this function by modifying the EDID of the capture card. Solution Get the default EDID of the capture card In your video capture software, select a channel of the Pro Capture card as the video input device, then call the driver panel of capture card. In the HDMI tab of the driver panel, click Save in the EDID section to save the EDID file of the specified channel to local storage. If you want to export EDID files for other channels, repeat steps i and step ii. Modify the EDID of the capture card Open the default EDID file in the software AW EDID Editor. In the Instanciated blocks section in the bottom left area of the CEA Extension tab, select the Audio to open the Audio descriptors page. In the "Audio descriptors" page, click the "+" button to add an audio descriptor tab. (As shown in the figure below, the new tab's name is n°3.) Set the values you need in the audio descriptor tab. In this example, the following parameters are set: Format: AC-3 Number of Channels: 6 Supported Sampling Frequencies: 32, 44, 48, 88, 96, 176, 192 kHz Maximum Bit Rate: 640 KHz If you need to add other audio formats, repeat step iv and step v. Save the modified EDID file. Import new EDID into the capture card In your video capture software, select a channel of the Pro Capture card as the video input device, then call the driver panel of capture card. In the HDMI tab of the driver panel, click Load in the EDID section to import the new EDID file to the specified channel. If you want to import the new EDID file into other channels, repeat step i and step ii.

How to check the serial number of Magewell products

This topic describes how to check the serial number of various Magewell product series. Pro Capture Family, Eco Capture Family USB Capture (Plus) Family Ultra Stream / Ultra Encode Family Pro Convert Family Pro Capture Family, Eco Capture Family Method 1: On device package Find the serial number on the package of your capture card. Method 2: On device The stickers on the capture card are printed with serial number and P/N code. The first set of code is the serial number. Method 3: Through driver panel (for Windows) Call the driver panel of capture card. Enter the Info tab page to view the Serial number. Method 4: Through command line (for Linux) Run the following command in the Terminal to view the device information. For Pro Capture card, run: mwcap-info -i For Eco Capture card, run: mweco-info -i Under Device, view the Serial number. USB Capture (Plus) Family Method 1: On device package Find the serial number on the package of your capture device. Method 2: On device Check for the product serial number (S/N) at the back of your capture device. Method 3: Through USB Capture Utility This method applies when only one USB Capture is connected to the host. On the host to which USB Capture is connected, open USB Capture Utility V3. If multiple USB Capture devices are connected to the host, select a device at the top of USB Capture Utility. Enter the Info tab page to view the Serial number. Ultra Stream / Ultra Encode Family Method 1: On device package Find the serial number on the package of Ultra Stream / Ultra Encode. Method 2: On device Find the serial number on the back of your device. Method 3: Through Web UI Log in to the Web UI of your device. Access the About tab page, and check Serial Number in the About area. Pro Convert Family Method 1: On device package Find the serial number on your device package. Method 2: On device Find the serial number on the back of your device. Method 3: Through Web UI Log in to Pro Convert Web UI. Enter the Dashboard tab page, and then view the Serial number under the Pro Convert category.
