The Max Cable Length Mini Repeater 4K HDMI Supports

2018.07.23

The Mini Repeater 4K HDMI is a tool developed by Magewell. It is mainly used to solve two kinds of problems as below:

  1. The available cable is not long enough. The repeater can be placed between two short cables to extend the total length.
  2. When the video source is connected to the display equipment such as a TV or a monitor, the image can be displayed correctly. However, when the source is connected to a capture device, the image flashes, the color is incorrect or “unsupported signal” is shown in the captured image. This is caused by poor quality of HDMI cable, loose connection, or signal that is not standard or stable. In this case the repeater can equalize the signal and send to the capture card so that it can be properly captured.

Magewell has done a test about the max length the repeater can support. When JCE HDMI cables are used, a 20m cable can be supported at both the input and output to transfer 2K signal, while for 4K, a 10m cable can be supported for both input and output. Please make sure that HDMI cables of high quality are used to ensure max transfer length and best capture experience.
